Obituary

Arnold Lee Meek, age 83, of Stanville, KY., passed from this life at his residence, Thursday, August 8, 2019. Arnold was born to the late Willis and Molly “Delong” Meek in Johnson County, KY., on July 13, 1936.
Besides both parent, Arnold is preceded in death by his loving spouse, Delores Meek; brothers: Jack Meek, Donis Meek, Albridge Meek, Walter Meek, Harry Meek, Faye Edward Meek, Homer Meek and Paul Meek; sister: Eunice Meek.
Arnold is survived by two sons, Jeffery Lee Meek and his spouse, Brandy, Barry Neal Meek; two granddaughters, Jessica Lee Adkins and her spouse, Ryan, Shelby Rae Carter and her spouse, Brenna; great grandson, Jakob Potter; two sisters, Joyce Ann Blevins and Darlene Clark.
Arnold taught and coached basketball at Virgie High School and Mullins High School for twenty-seven years. Arnold was a basketball, baseball, and the field director for Pikeville Little League. Arnold was a loving father, son, grandfather, and great grandfather. Arnold served his Nation proudly in the United States Army. Arnold was an honored Veteran who wore the title proudly.
The family will accept friends at Thacker Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 6:00 PM. The funeral services will be Sunday, August 11, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Thacker Memorial Funeral Home with Odis Blankenship and David Meek officiating. Burial following at Annie E. Young Cemetery. DAV Honors observed by the Johns Creek Chapter #166. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville, KY.

Mr. Meek was my favorite teacher of all time. He taught me at Virgie Hogh School in 1966. He made learning fun. There were never any discipline problems in his classrooms. His students respected him so much that they all behaved, at least back when he was my teacher.
